The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) explained how the deal between Verizon and a cable cabal of Comcast, Cox and Time Warner Cable would erase broadband competition and raise prices for consumers.
AT&T and Verizon don’t want a network that enables us to create, write, make, design, build and sell what we want — without restrictions or the need to ask permission from gatekeepers.
Instead, these companies want an Internet that looks an awful lot like cable television: a place where you get only the news and entertainment that pad ISPs’ profit margins. And they want an Internet that excludes dissident voices.
Bad news: Comcast just announced that it’s buying Time Warner Cable.
No one woke up this morning wishing their cable company was bigger or had more control over what they watch and how they get online. But that’s the reality we’ll face unless the DoJ and the FCC do their jobs and block this merger.

We need to put an end to Comcast’s never-ending quest for dominance.
Tell the FCC to stop the Comcast-Time Warner Cable merger: bit.ly/stopcomcast
Rep. Bob Latta has just introduced a bill (H.R. 4752) that would stop the FCC from taking the necessary step to protect REAL Net Neutrality.
This move borders on insulting and actually forbids the FCC from doing what millions of people (LIKE YOU!), companies, innovators, artists and organizations have been urging it to do: reclassify broadband providers as common carriers.
We’ve known from the start that the Comcast/Time Warner Cable merger would be bad for prices, competition and the future of the Internet. Now we have the facts to back it up.
Verizon: Let Us Charge You More for Less!
“Imagine the power company offering you a shared electricity plan but charging you more for every device you plug into an outlet,” Wood said. “It makes no sense for consumers — and it’s all about dollars and cents for Verizon. The main goal of these new plans is to get consumers sharing more of their money with Verizon. These tactics show just how uncompetitive the market for wireless services has become, as Verizon and AT&T gobble up spectrum, tie more products together and lock customers into bad deals.”
HUGE NEWS: Democrats in Congress have introduced new legislation that would restore Net Neutrality!
Tell Congress: Keep the Internet WEIRD — and SAVE NET NEUTRALITY
